On Oct. 11, 2008, Caley went into pre-term labor. At just 31 weeks pregnant, she would need the kind of specialized care that only Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children can provide. The only hitch: Caley was in Hilo.

Fortunately, Kapiʻolaniʼs Transport Team airlifted her to Honolulu in time to deliver twins Haez and Zaen, each weighing 3.7 oz. “We just made it,” says Caley. The babies, born premature, received care in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Kapiʻolani Medical Center.
