The mission of the Kapi'olani Health Foundation is to improve the health of Hawai'i's people through funding of medical care, equipment, health education and research at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children.
Ways Your Support Helps
As a nonprofit hospital, Kapi'olani Medical Center relies on community support to fulfill its mission. Our generous donors, through contributions to the Kapi'olani Health Foundation, help the hospital provide exceptional medical care for Hawai'i's women and children, including the critically ill, in four key areas:
Kapi'olani Medical Center's unique, family-centered approach to healthcare puts patients and families at the center of the health care experience. This creates an environment in which women, children and their families can heal together, with better outcomes.
Rapidly emerging technologies have fundamentally changed the care delivery process and a rebuild of the hospital is vital to provide the level of comfort and care that Hawai'i's families deserve. The Phase 1 renovation and rebuild will help Kapi'olani reach the following goals: 1) create family-centered space to deliver family-centered care, a concept at the center of hospital rebuilds nationwide; 2) meet the critical care needs of Hawai'i's keiki, as the Pacific region's sole tertiary referral center and Level III-B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; and 3) ensure adequate educational conference rooms and spaces are available as Hawai'i's pediatric teaching hospital. Education and Research
Your support makes Kapi'olani's vital health education and community outreach programs available, which can improve medical outcomes. Critical research in prenatal, neonatal and children's medicine are also made possible through your support, which leads to discovery of new and effective treatments.
As a mission-driven hospital, Kapi'olani Medical Center provides quality care to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay. Fifty-two percent of children seeking care are from uninsured or underinsured families, yet Kapi'olani never turns a child away. Community support helps us carry out this worthy part of our mission.
